Busa Wangdue Gonpa Dorling Monastic and Buddhist College

Busa Wangdue Gonpa Dorling Monastic and Buddhist College are located at Sephu under Wangduephodrang in Bhutan. It is the main monastic seat of the Tshungmed Tashi Tenzin, the Heart Son of the great Terchen Dorje Lingpa. The genealogy of subsequent reincarnations has been carried down through generations since then. Busa Wangdue Gonpa Dorling Monastery was built in the seventeen (17th) century. Thuksay Tshungmed Tashi Tenzin laid the foundation of the monastery using the same treasure, The Golden Dagger which was discovered by Dorje Lingpa from Tshomo Umteng. He used the same golden dagger to consecrate the ground breaking ritual.

The monastery was managed by layman and yogis, since then they were taught about Dorje Lingpa teachings, practices and rituals by the successive lineage holders and the senior yogis.Later in the year 2000, the then Dorling lineage holder Lam Ngawang Tenzin Rinpoche established a Buddhist College with monk education, with initial setup support from His Eminence Gangteng Trulku Rinpoche. The monastic education system under Dorje Lingpa Foundation is 6 (six) years of elementary school under various monastic schools and another nine years (Levels 1–9) of higher education under Buddhist College. After the completion of Buddhist College education, the monk is required to take on responsibility to support the monastic setup and school, taking on the roles of teacher, administrator, secretary, and in program management. After that, the monk will need to undergo a three-year retreat. And after the completion of retreat and successful service for the required year, he can be offered the title of Khenpo (Chief Abbot). Currently, there are 47 monks studying at Busa Wangdue Gonpa, under the guidance of Khenpo Phurba, and 6 (Six) Lopens /teachers, overall, headed by the 11th Busa Trulku Sonam Gyeltshen Rinpoche.

Terney Gyel Pheling monastery and retreat centre


Terney Gayphel Ling at Rabtse Goenpa, Saephu Geog, Wangdue Phodrang is one of the sacred places sanctified and blessed by Guru Padma Jungne (second Budddha) and is known as the second Tsari Ney (Tsari Holy Place). It was founded in the late 17th century around 1680 by Jetsun Tshultrim Pelbar, the Fourth (4th) successive lineage holder of Tshungmed Tashi Tenzin, the heart son of Terchen Dorji Lingpa.

The monastery was blessed by the visit of Guru Renpoche and have many sacred places of Guru and Khadroms, Dupthops and Long-life god and goddess. The only water source there are the three holy waters discovered by Guru Rinpoche in three forms – Tiger, Bird and Dragon. Gomu, the ‘Kasung’ protector of Guru Padma Sambhava is the local deity of the community of Sephu, Chazam, Rukubji and Bombelo.Busa Trulku Rinpoche undertook the major renovation of the Monastery. The consecration of Lhakhang was done by His Eminence Gangteng Trulku Rinpoche on April 14, 2019.

Ternye Gyephel Ling Goenpa (Pangkha Gonpa) is the planned meditation center so that the monks from Busa Wangdue Goenpa Buddhist College Shedra can do the retreat and meditations to further spread Dharma and Dorji Lingpa practices, and help more sentient beings

    Duepung Zilnoenling Elementary School, Rukubji

Duepung Zilnoenling Elementary School is the abode of guardian deity Drakma Pelzang.  His Eminence Jadrel Sangay Dorji Rinpoche consecrated the abode upon its completion. After the monastery was offered to Busa Trulku Rinpoche, the elementary school was established. Monks who finish primary school will be moved to Terney gyel pheling monastery and to Busa Wangdue Goenpa Buddhist College to further their education

  Pema Shedrup Dhargye Khandroling Nunnery Dangchu


In 2017 the Zhabje Lhakhang "Monastery of Foot Prints" at Dangchu which is a very sacred legacy of Guru Rinpoche and Dorji Lingpa was handed over by the people of Dangchu to Trulku. The monastery was then registered under the Dorji Lingpa and started a Nunnery School at Zhabje Lhakhang, Dangchu as a center of learning and teaching to produce highly qualified Nuns (Anims) and Anim Khenmos for the propagation of the Dorji Lingpa Lineage and the Buddha Dharma in General. The sacred place of Dangchu Zhabje Lhakhang is in the pristine high mountain area of central east Bhutan and in a very sacred site visited and blessed by Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambava) in the eighth century and have left a very prominent foot print (Zhabje) of Guru Rinpoche

     Tshokoling lhakhang Saley, Sha Khothakha


The descendent family of the legendary Salay Sam Wangchuk Gyem of Saley, Wangdiphodrang, who was born into the family line of the Great Terchen Dorji Lingpa has offered Tshokoling Lhakhang at Saley under Rubisa Geog, Sha Khotakha, Wangdue Phodrang to Busa Trulku Khentruel Sonam Gyeltshen Rinpoche and accordingly the monastery is registered under the Dorji Lingpa Foundation in 2020. The re-construction of the Tshokoling Lhakhang at Saley is underway.

      Ula Charil Monastery


Ula Monastery is located at Ula village in Rubesa gewog, Wangdue. The monastery is one and a half hours drives from Wangdue main town towards Wangdue-Tsirang highway.More than 600 years old monastery location was identified through a golden arrow sent from Tibet Toelue Tshokung by Truelku chok tu goenpa, the incarnation of Terchen Dorjj Lingpa.  Based on the golden arrow landing identified location, Truelku chok tu goenpa built the monastery and the statues by bringing along with him 100 horse (donkey) loads of special soil brought all the way from Tibet.

The monastery has the treasure bell (Choe day) and corn (dungkhar) and the golden arrows as the main relics inside. Ula monastery is directly linked to Terchen dorji lingpa and is linked with Shaley Monastery as the summer residence.

Dhur Monastery is a Dorji Lingpa lineage monastery taken over by H. E Busa Trulku Rinpoche and registered under Dorji Lingpa Foundation.
